Understanding VoIP and How to Port Your Number to Maverix

VoIP Porting

Updated yesterday

Looking to set up a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) line with Maverix? This guide covers everything you need to know, including how to port your current VoIP number and what to expect in terms of cost and timelines.

What is VoIP?

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, a technology that allows you to make phone calls over an internet connection instead of a traditional phone line. VoIP services are often more cost-effective and flexible, making them an excellent choice for both personal and business use.

Monthly Charges

Each VoIP line you add with Maverix will incur an additional charge of $20 per month on your billing statement, plus applicable taxes.

Requesting a New VoIP Line

If you're not porting a number and would prefer to request a new VoIP line, simply send us a message and indicate that you’re requesting a new number.

We’ll assign a new phone number to your account and handle the setup for you. No additional documents are required for new number requests.

Porting Your Existing Number

If you already have a number with another provider, you can transfer (port) that number to Maverix. To start the process, please complete our VoIP Porting Request Form and attach the required documentation listed below.

Required Documents for porting an existing number:

  1. Porting Letter of Agency (download and complete the form at the bottom of this article).

  2. A recent copy of your current phone carrier’s billing statement (must show account details clearly).

Note: If your current carrier uses an account PIN for verification, please enter this in the Notes section of the form.

Important Reminders

  • Keep your existing phone service active until the porting process is fully completed.

  • Double-check your form before submitting to ensure there are no typos or incorrect data. Mistakes can delay your number porting to Maverix.

  • Attach both documents (Letter of Agency and current statement) when submitting a porting request.

Porting Timeframe

The VoIP porting process typically takes 1–3 weeks to complete. Timelines may vary depending on your current provider and their response time.

If you have any further questions or need help completing the form, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team. We're here to help make the transition to Maverix as smooth as possible.
